The stakes in our society are especially high right now. While it's always been true that everything we do matters, in this moment that's clearer than ever. Even as we've watched elites and institutions cave in to our current authoritarian regime, we've seen people -- everyday people, from all walks of life -- fiercely stand up to the violent forces of the state. I draw on that for energy and inspiration, and I hope you do too.
The Justice Committee was founded by everyday people, specifically to empower low-income Latinx and other people of color to organize against police violence and systemic racism in NYC. The impact of Justice Committee's work is more visible than ever these past two years in the incredible resistance to ICE we've been seeing by hyperlocal groups, which comes directly from the practices of CopWatch that JC has been training New Yorkers to do since 2008, and which JC learned in turn from the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement, who were trained by the Black Panthers. In other words, there is a lineage of people power here, which you support when you donate to Justice Committee.
Thanks to generous gifts from JC supporters, all contributions up to $80,000 will be DOUBLED, so please, join me in giving. We need money to build power, and we need power now more than ever.
