About the Monti E. Hall Memorial Scholarship

The Monti E. Hall Memorial Scholarship was established to honor the life, service, and legacy of Monti E. Hall — a US Army Veteran, devoted community advocate, and tireless voice for justice and equity. Monti dedicated his life to supporting the most vulnerable among us: the disabled, the homeless, veterans, and those too often unheard.

Monti served as the Community Outreach Director for Marian’s House, where he passionately advocated on behalf of individuals in need, forging connections with agencies, organizations, and grassroots leaders throughout South Sacramento. He also served as a Work Student with the Veterans Administration’s Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment office in Sacramento, helping fellow veterans pursue meaningful opportunities for rehabilitation and employment. His previous work with the Consortium for Community Services (CCS) focused on providing mental health support and vocational guidance for mentally ill parolees.

A full-time university student himself, Monti believed deeply in the power of education as a tool for empowerment and transformation. He also gave his time and leadership to numerous community organizations, including serving on the Board of Directors for the Southgate Recreation and Parks District, the Martin Luther King Neighborhood Association, and the South Sacramento Neighborhood Coalition.

The Monti E. Hall Memorial Scholarship seeks to carry forward his legacy by supporting students who demonstrate a strong commitment to community service, social justice, advocacy, or public service—especially those connected to causes close to Monti’s heart, such as veterans’ affairs, mental health, and grassroots outreach.

Through this scholarship, Monti’s vision, compassion, and dedication will continue to inspire and motivate future generations.
