ACCEPT's Mission:

ACCEPT is the only community-based (501c3) organization providing HIV/AIDS prevention education, intervention, and support services targeting African Americans in Washoe County. ACCEPT was founded in 1995 by Pastor Glenn E. Taylor Sr., as an outreach ministry of the Greater Light Church. At that time no one in the State of Nevada was targeting African Americans, who have been disproportionately affected and infected since the epidemic’s beginning.

Gwen Taylor's Bio:

Gwen Taylor is the Executive Director and Program Manager of ACCEPT, where she oversees strategic planning, fundraising, and the delivery of five core programs that serve people living with HIV/AIDS and their loved ones. With more than 26 years of experience in HIV prevention, care, and substance abuse prevention, Gwen has dedicated her career to advancing health equity and community engagement. She has co-founded the first Faith-Based Coalition in Northern Nevada and the statewide Nevada Faith and Health Coalition, presented at national HIV/AIDS conferences, and collaborated extensively with nonprofits, businesses, and faith communities across Nevada. Under her leadership, ACCEPT remains the only, Black-led organization in the state to receive Ryan White funding for over 20 years. Gwen is widely recognized for her passion, candor, and commitment, earning affectionate titles such as “First Lady” at her husband’s church, Greater Light Christian Center, and the “SEX Lady” from students at Sierra Nevada Job Corps, where she and her daughter trained thousands in HIV/STI prevention for more than two decades. Before joining ACCEPT in 1999, Gwen built a successful corporate career with over 30 years at AT&T, including 27 in management, and later at Wells Fargo as a Store Manager and Business Deposit Consultant. She lives in Nevada with her husband, Reverend Glenn E. Taylor Sr., and is a proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

All proceeds from the event will directly support ACCEPT’s essential programs, including prevention education for youth and adults, parenting support, financial literacy, and services for individuals living with HIV/AIDS. With program funding significantly reduced in recent years, community support is more important than ever. Many individuals and families rely on ACCEPT’s services to live healthy, informed, and empowered lives.
