Recess: Kayaking at Catfish Creek
Sunday, August 4th, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM CDT
In Person
Join us on Saturday, August 4th for a morning paddle at Catfish Creek guided by Dubuque County Conservation. There will be two sessions for this event, 9 AM and 10:30 AM. Each group will take a max group of 18 free rentals and 5 bring your own kayakers. Our guide will take us on an hour and a half or so paddle on the easy current of the Mississippi Backwaters. All are welcome regardless of experience! This is FREE to attend, BUT Registration is Required. This is the ratio we will keep for safety purposes and in comparison to the size of the useable waterway. What to bring? Please bring with you a water bottle, shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting wet, sunscreen and a good attitude. Life vests will be provided by the county if you are borrowing one of their kayaks. If you are registering to bring your own kayak, please bring your own PFD. Can I participate if I have no experience? Absolutely! Kayaking as a newbie can be intimidating but you will not be the only one. We will have a few experienced paddlers plus 2 to 3 county conservation employees to guide you. Just come with a teachable spirit! If you want to join us in the She Unites mission, please consider making a donation when registering for this event. Every dollar helps us grow our organization and make an impact in the lives of women in the Dubuque region. What is She Unites Recess? Our Recess programming is our intentional community-building activity-based program. We are on a mission to connect amazing women through unique opportunities that get us out of our comfort zones.
