Managing these Chapters is like running a small business except you don’t get paid and neither does your staff. The bi-annual conferences create an opportunity for training in various specialty areas that wouldn’t be otherwise accessible, ranging from motivating volunteers to wilderness first aid. They’re also a gateway to accessing a ton of shared knowledge on writing MOU’s, dealing with land managers, getting insurance coverage, writing grants, and a million other topics that we all deal with on a day-to-day basis.
