oh hi! we're a queer, anarcha-feminist collective living in the occupied land of the Chesapeake and the Lumbee who operate a radical indie bookshop, social movement space, mutual aid hub, and community library!

we've been operating for 5 years and, in that time, have gone through the most magical transitions (like becoming a worker-owned cooperative, a community library, & opening a mutual aid hub by sharing the space with our local mutual aid partners!), been able to share our love of rad books & storytelling with y'all (eeee to all the book clubs and in-shop chats!), and deepened our commitment to being community rooted in our social movement organizing (hello, hampton roads mutual aid network & all the connects!).

~ it's been a dream to read & dream & build with y'all ~

in the operations, we do all the things a regular business has to do - budgeting & bookkeeping, inventory management & industry development, day-to-day customer service & bulk orders, marketing & social media management, event creation & management, janitorial services, and so much more. we are continually working on our craft and adapting to where our community is while keeping the hope of building the alternate systems we need while living in a human-made dystopian hellscape.

the thing is, our margins are slim and our operating costs outweigh what we're able to manage through sales alone.

i mean, making brick & mortar retail work in this economy? with these rents, fees, and rising everything?!

our worker-owners are doing everything they can to curate the shelves & create programming for this cozy, whimsical, radical third space. and we need your help to sustain our work.
