Kenyan Heroes in Action is Global Health Action's campaign to resource implementing partners who are on the frontlines of community health throughout Kenya.

Our Heroes

Across Kenya (in the corridors of urban clinics, in the narrow alleyways of Nairobi's informal settlements, in semi-urban towns where the nearest specialist is hours away, in scattered rural communities reachable only on foot, and in refugee settlements where families have already survived the unthinkable) there are people doing extraordinary work without fanfare, without headlines, and often without enough resources to match their determination.

They work on mental health, maternal and newborn care, sexual and reproductive health rights, water and sanitation, non-communicable diseases, child health, youth empowerment, and education, among others. Different frontlines, different communities, one share conviction: That where you are born, or where you fled to, should never determine how long you live or how much dignity you are afforded.

Global Health Action calls them what they are: Kenyan Heroes in Action.

GHA walks alongside these heroes: training, coaching, and connecting them through the Ripple Effect model. But the fuel that keeps this work moving comes from people like you. A single trained community health worker can serve hundreds of families. The impact ripples outward, through children who stay in school, through mothers who deliver safely, through communities that know their rights and claim them.

$10 - Every dollar keeps our Ripple Effect Program* going.
$25 - Ensures a Kenyan Hero and their organization are connected every month to opportunities, tools, and resources to increase their impact.
$50 - Guarantees a Kenyan Hero has access to coaching sessions every month to improve grant writing, review grant proposals, and provide technical assistance with program design or management.
$75 - Delivers a structured 12-month-long trauma-informed training to a Kenyan Hero and team members to support an entire community.
$100 - Provides monthly training sessions for a grassroots organization to develop a monitoring and evaluation system, continuing until the system is fully operational.
$250 - Delivers monthly training to strengthen the leadership and governance skills of an organization's leaders.

These heroes do not wait for the world to notice them. They show up anyway: in the rain, on foot, in communities that have been overlooked for far too long. All they ask is to be equipped to provide the services their neighbors deserve.

* The Ripple Effect Program is a comprehensive and successfully piloted program that empowers local organizations via a comprehensive 3-year framework. It provides essential needs-based training, collaborative community health project development, thorough health assessments, and initiatives for building mental health capacity.
