About the Concert

Established in 1946, the Choir has spent eight decades shaping young men through rigorous choral training, performance, and cultural engagement. The Atlanta Boy Choir has performed in 26 countries, produced thousands of accomplished alumni worldwide, and earned a Grammy Award for its recording of Britten's War Requiem with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.

This historic concert is part of the Choir's 2026 Southeastern Heritage Tour, a six-day journey through sites central to the American civil rights movement, including the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, and the Rosa Parks Museum in Montgomery.

Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church is where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. served as pastor from 1954 to 1960 and where the Montgomery Bus Boycott was organized. It is also a church with a deep musical tradition. Coretta Scott King sang in the Dexter Avenue choir during her husband's pastorate, and congregation members remember her voice as a defining presence in the life of the church. For a youth choral ensemble built on the belief that music shapes young men, performing in this sanctuary carries particular meaning.
