I have been a READ Lakeland Board Member for over 4 years and proud to serve as the current Board Secretary for the last 3 years. 

As someone whose grandparents immigrated to Syracuse, NY from Ukraine, and English was their third language, this non-profit really hits home for me. I have seen first-hand what it's like being in a new country and trying to learn a new language to provide for your family and to just get by in day-to-day life. 

Having the proper services and tools that READ Lakeland provides, it allows our community the chance to thrive and be successful! And the best part about it? This amazing fundraiser helps us raise funds so everything READ Lakeland provides is completely FREE to our students and we NEVER charge a dime! That's why I love being a part of READ Lakeland in helping to make a significant difference right here in our own community! 

24% of Polk County is considered illiterate and every day we strive to lower that rate here and together we are not only raising money, we are helping to change lives for so many people!
