As the current President for Read Lakeland, I am extremely passionate about what we do here.

Right here in Polk County, 24% of adults are functioning at the lowest levels of literacy. That means nearly 1 in 4 adults struggle with basic reading and writing skills—things many of us take for granted, like reading a prescription label, filling out a job application, or even reading to their children.

For 30 years—since 1995—READ Lakeland has been tackling this issue head-on, providing free, one-on-one tutoring to adults who want to improve their literacy skills and change their futures.

This fundraiser isn’t just about reaching a dollar amount—it’s about changing lives. Every dollar you raise helps provide free, one-on-one tutoring to adults who are determined to build a better future for themselves and their families.
