Reba Coil serves as the Community Liaison Director for South Lakeland area schools, bringing more than 20 years of experience in education and the nonprofit sector. She earned her bachelor's degree in Primary/Elementary Education from Florida Southern College in 1995. Prior to her current role, Reba served as the Business & Community Liaison in the Polk County Public Schools Workforce Education Department. Her professional background also includes leadership positions as Program Manager for Leadership Polk with Polk Vision and STEM Grant Coordinator at Bartow Elementary Academy.
A dedicated community advocate, Reba is actively involved in numerous organizations, including the Lakeland Rotary Club, the Lakeland Chamber of Commerce Education Committee, Polk Vision's Operating Board and Literacy Team, and the InnerAct Alliance Board. Her passion for education and community engagement drives her commitment to building strong partnerships that support student success and lifelong learning.
As a candidate in READ Lakeland's Kiss the Pig Contest, Reba is proud to champion adult literacy and raise awareness of the transformative impact reading can have on individuals and families. Through her work with Polk County Public Schools and the community, she has witnessed firsthand how literacy opens doors to employment, independence, and opportunity. She is a strong advocate for adult learners and believes every individual deserves the chance to develop the reading skills needed to succeed and thrive.
Outside of her professional work, Reba enjoys spending time with her family at the lake or in the mountains. She and her husband, Paul, have been married for 28 years and are proud parents of two grown children, Jason (25) and Kaylee (23), both college graduates pursuing careers in the construction and nursing fields. Their family also includes two beloved Labrador retrievers, Maverick and Goose.
