Join Conservation Works for our FIFTH Annual Hike for Habitat on October 14, 2023! This year, in celebration of our five years of these great free hikes, we will be holding a docent-led hike in each of our four counties: Glenwood Elementary School & Turtle Back Trail in China Camp in Marin County, Shell Beach State Park & Kortum Trail in Sonoma County, Otis R. Johnson Wilderness Park in Mendocino County, and Lakeside County Park in Lake County. Conservation Works’ docents will lead hikes starting at 11:00 at each location, explaining about the important wildlife habitat and helping identify native plants along the way. You may also download trail maps HERE if you wish to hike on your own in one of these great parks. Anyone is welcome to join us for the walk, or strike off on your own and enjoy a “nature bath” to let stress wash away. How do you take a nature bath? Just move through the natural area you are visiting at a slow pace so you can see and feel more. Take a moment and go still—perhaps sitting on a log. Take long breaths deep into the abdomen and extend the exhalation of air to twice the length of the inhalation --this sends a message to the body that it can relax. Then become aware: smell what's around you, see what’s around you from the smallest insect to the largest hill, feel the softness of a breeze or the warmth of the sun, and let stress wash away.

Being outdoors is healthy, and celebrating nature together on October 14, 2023 wherever you are is a gift to us all!
