As our Board leaders, friends, and community members take on NYC Runs and the TCS New York City Marathon, they’re dedicating every mile to empowering girls across Westchester.

Girls Inc. of Westchester is dedicated to inspiring all girls to make positive choices in their lives. Through research-based programming, mentorship, and a supportive community, we help girls unlock their potential, build confidence, and become leaders in their schools and communities.

Across Westchester, girls face challenges that limit their access to opportunities and negatively impact their confidence. GIWC equips girls to reach their full potential and empowers them to be strong, smart and bold through research-backed programming that focuses on mental, social and emotional wellness, leadership development and college and career readiness. At Girls Inc., we provide a supportive environment so that all girls may gain essential life skills, educational support, and hands-on experiences that foster growth and resilience.

Candice Wellington -
Youth Advocate

I’m running the NYC Runs race this year not just for myself, but for the girls who deserve every chance to grow up supported, empowered, and unstoppable. As a mom of three daughters and an advocate for growth through my podcast on bettering yourself, I know how vital it is to create spaces where young women feel safe, guided, and inspired. Through my own healing journey and my work in preventive services, I’ve seen how critical it is to provide mentorship, resources, and opportunities before challenges turn into crises. That’s why I’m proud to run for Girls Inc. of Westchester County. It reflects my passion for ensuring the next generation of young women have the tools and confidence to succeed and break barriers.

Rachel Thompson –

I am a mother, a runner, and a passionate advocate for helping others—especially youth—discover their inner strength and potential through running. Outside of my “day job”, I always look for opportunities to inspire people in running. Each year I volunteer in my local community to help organize a 5K, 1-mile run, and “Tots Run”. In 2020, I helped launch an informal local run club with my husband and friends, creating a welcoming space for runners of all levels. I am deeply committed to growing the running community in my hometown and am super excited about GIWC’s mission to empower young women to be strong, smart, and bold. I look forward to dedicating my race to GIWC this year and raising fun for this amazing cause!

Channing Lynch –

I’m excited to run this year’s New York City Marathon in support of Girls Inc. of Westchester County, an organization that helps girls in our community grow up Strong, Smart & Bold. Every mile I run is for the girls who are finding their voices, setting their goals, and believing in their own potential. Programs like A Day in Her Heels open doors to mentorship and career exploration, while their College Showers celebrate graduates with laptops or other essentials for their next chapter — reminders that every girl deserves the resources and support to succeed. As I train and push through each mile, I’m inspired by their courage, ambition, and determination. Join me in fueling their journey by donating to help empower the next generation of confident, fearless young women to dream big.

Anyel Arslanian –

This November, I’ll be running my third NYC Marathon in support of Girls Inc. of Westchester County. Running has been part of my life for the past three years, and through it, I’ve learned what it means to be bold in chasing goals, smart in training with intention, and strong in showing up and pushing through on race day. These lessons echo the mission of Girls Inc., and as someone who grew up swimming competitively, I know firsthand how transformative sports and mentorship can be. I’m proud to run not just for myself, but to help raise awareness for an organization that’s shaping the next generation of confident, capable young women.

As Board Vice Chair, I have seen first-hand the transformative impact this organization has on girls and the Westchester community.
