Celebrating 8 years of cultivating community and empowering the next generation!

Collective work and responsibility defines our work and the ways we show up in North St. Louis. Our name, a Swahili word, reflects the 3rd principle of Kwanzaa.

Our mission is to cultivate community through food justice, environmental stewardship, and youth empowerment, From our early work hosting pop-up dinner events, to inheriting a former school garden in Hyde Park, we have always invested in marginalized communities that have been devastated by food apartheid and environmental racism. Later in 2021, it was time to grow our impact and create a path for sustainability. We purchased a house and 5 lots to launch George Washington Carver Farms. Inspired by the Missouri legend and the communities in North St. Louis our story became much bigger than ourselves! Now, we’re inviting you to help grow our next chapter.

Building a new future for the next generation and our planet, together.

We’re working to raise $50,000 to sustain Ujima’s work and move our vision forward.

Your support helps care for George Washington Carver Farms, sustain essential staffing and operations, support education and employment opportunities for youth people, and complete priorities such as kitchen and office restoration, as well as farm expansion.

These are investments in our neighbors, our young people, and the future of North St. Louis. Together, they bring us closer to our long-term vision of a community food campus where food, education, wellness, culture, and opportunity grow side by side.

Celebrate with us on December 27th!

Join us at The Thaxton for a Kwanzaa Celebration, an evening honoring our history, the holiday season, celebrating the people who help make this work possible, and looking forward to the next chapter!
