Saavi Services for the Blind believes in a world where blind individuals are equal contributors locally, nationally, and throughout the world demonstrating it is not what you can see, it is what you can do. We contribute to this vision by teaching the alternative skills of blindness, so blind individuals may succeed in whatever goals they set for themselves.

Saavi Services for the Blind is proud to announce an upcoming international mission trip to Accra, Ghana, taking place March 9th–22^nd 2026, with a focused commitment to education, empowerment, and sustainable impact within the blind and low vision community. This mission reflects Saavi’s ongoing dedication to breaking barriers, changing perceptions of blindness, and fostering independence through practical tools and meaningful relationships.

During this journey, Saavi Services for the Blind will partner with Worldwide Community Outreach (WCO), a respected organization known for its global humanitarian work and community-based approach. Through this partnership, Saavi will collaborate directly with local leaders, educators, healthcare providers, and families to ensure efforts are culturally responsive, impactful, and designed to create long-term benefits rather than temporary aid.

A key goal of the mission is to leave the community with sustainable blindness resources, including white canes and other essential adaptive tools that promote safe mobility, independence, and confidence. In addition to mobility tools, Saavi is excited to be working with Local Lions Clubs and the ALERT Glasses terminal in Tucson, Arizona, which will help supply eyeglasses during and after the trip, addressing preventable and correctable vision challenges that often go untreated in underserved communities.

Beyond material resources, the mission emphasizes education and empowerment, sharing knowledge about blindness skills, accessibility, and self-advocacy while engaging in open dialogue that challenges misconceptions about blindness. By building strong, positive relationships within the community, Saavi aims to support a shift in how blindness is understood, not as a limitation, but as a different way of navigating the world with the right tools and support.
