March 2026 Floods Swept Away Home, Safety, & Stability For Thousands on Maui. Again.

The news moves on so fast, and is often focused where tourists flock. Few are aware the extent of destruction to residents still in recovery from the wildfires in 2023. FEMA now estimates 600-700 Maui residential properties were damaged in the March floods.

Big organizations can have limited missions, time and attention. We looked to find a locally based team for donations that we could trust. For the Hoʻōla iā Mauiakama Disaster Long Term Recovery Group (Hoʻōla LTRG), since the Lahaina fires of 2023, it's been about their own communities. When the floods happened, they didn't miss a beat and included those victims as well:
