<p><strong>SINGER-SONGWRITER COMPETITION</strong></p>

<p>Every Monday starting November 17th to Dec 8th 6pm - 9pm</p>
<p>Calling all aspiring, semi-professional and professional, <em>original</em> Singer-Songwriters! Compete for a chance to win multiple prizes ranging from a LIVE STUDIO ALBUM recorded in front of a live studio audience at Tank Recording Studios, 8 hours of studio time at West Street Digital, gift certificates from Music and Arts, and a Taylor electric acoustic guitar! The first three weeks of qualifying will consist of a total of twenty four artists competing for one of 6 finalist slots, each week highlighting eight of the twenty four artists. Two artists will be selected from each week to move on to the finals in the fourth week. Those that make it to the finals will win a spot in one of two Nashville in-the-round sessions recorded LIVE in front of a studio audience at Tank Recording Studios and a spotlight on The Point radio station as part of their Local Music Showcase series. Each finalist will also receive a copy of the live performance.</p>

<li>Put your required email address in, and donate the $30 registration fee. No refunds will be permitted. A $1.20 processing fee will be applied. The system automatically puts in a recommended tip rate. You may remove this prior to checking out if you'd like. </li>

</li>
<li>You must arrive at “The Room” at 14th Star Brewing Company & Black Radish at 14th Star the week of your performance between 5pm and 5:30pm to confirm attendance.</li>
<li>Time/order of your performance TBD the night of your performance. </li>
<li>You must be present to win/advance. </li>
<li>LCES reserves the right to rearrange schedules if necessary.

<li>LCES will email all appropriate artists of any changes. </li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>3 judges each qualifying week. 5 judges the week of the finals. </li>
<li>Performances must be as a soloist. No duos, trios, or bands.
<ul>
<li>If you are not accompanying yourself and need to use a pre-recorded backing track, you must bring the necessary equipment to plug your device in to the mixer. </li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Performers will play 2 ORIGINAL songs or 10 minutes, whichever comes first. </li>
<li>35 total points based on judging criteria. (see judges criteria for categories) </li>
<li>Top two performers from each qualifying week move to the finals</li>
<li>
<p>Tie Breakers: </p>
<ul>
<li>
<p>During qualifying weeks (week one through week three):</p>
<ul>

<p>If there’s a tie for 1st place in any qualifying week</p>
<ul>
<li style="list-style-type: disc">
<p>The two that tied for first place move forward to the finals. If there are more than two people that tied for 1st place, the judges will take the 2 highest of criteria #1. If there is still a tie, they will take the highest of each criteria in numerical order until the tie is broken. If there is still a tie, the judges will deliberate and decide together. </p>

<li>
<p>If there’s a tie for second place during the qualifying weeks:</p>
<ul>
<li style="list-style-type: disc">The one with the highest score in the "stage presence/performance" category moves on. If there's still a tie, the judges will take the highest of each criteria in numerical order until the tie is broken. If there is still a tie, the judges will deliberate and decide together. </li>

<p>If there is a tie on the week of the finals: </p>
<ul>
<li style="list-style-type: disc">Judges will take the highest of criteria #1. If there is still a tie, they will take the highest of each criteria in numerical order until the tie is broken. If there is still a tie, the judges will deliberate and decide together. Judges deliberation is able to be taken into consideration at any point. In the event the judges are unable to come to a decision, an additional song may be required by the performers. </li>

<p><strong>Judges Criteria: </strong></p>
<p>1) Stage Presence/Performance - 10 points total</p>
<p>(engaging, storytelling, technical skill, vocal ability, execution)</p>
<p>2) Songwriting - 10 points total</p>
<p>(musicality, composition/structure, melody/harmony, originality, dynamics)</p>
<p>3) Lyrics - 10 points total</p>
<p>(clarity, theme, poetic quality, rhythm/pulse, memorable)</p>
<p>4) Time - 5 points total (a point reduction for every 10 seconds over) 2 songs or 10 minutes; whichever comes</p>
