Across Minnesota, people are gathering in living rooms, houses of worship, union halls, and community centers to talk about what they value and what kind of neighbors they want to be. The Minnesota Land of Neighbors Campaign invited the MNJRC, alongside many organizations and community groups across the state, to host one of these conversations.

At the Minnesota Justice Research Center, we are clear about our mission to transform our criminal legal system. This kind of transformational work isn't possible without our community coming together to wrestle with challenging questions and align our shared values as we move toward safer communities.

We’re seeking residents in South Minneapolis and beyond, from different backgrounds, experiences, and viewpoints to speak honestly about what matters to them and to listen to others.

While this is a structured conversation similar to those hosted by the LON across the state, we're excited to take this opportunity to connect these conversations about what it means to be a good neighbor with our vision for safe communities alongside an equitable, accountable, and restorative justice system.

This Listening Session is one in a series that will be held around the state for a new statewide campaign, Minnesota: Land of Neighbors. The campaign is aimed at combatting unhealthy divisiveness in Minnesota. Organized by Braver Angels Minnesota, Civic Bridgers and Common Ground USA, the campaign is funded by a group of Minnesota foundations.
