Leah Burr Jordan — beloved friend, mother, bookstore owner, and passionate community advocate — passed away on July 14th, 2025. A lifelong lover of native plants, good books, deep friendships, and compassionate causes, Leah’s legacy lives on in the people and spaces she helped shape.

Leah’s life has made an impact on countless people, and her love for reading and building community led directly to the creation of Pearl’s Books, which she and Daniel opened in fall 2021. The store is named after their first rescue dog. Pearl, with her grumpy charm and fly-chasing quirks, and is a constant reminder of how the companionship of a beloved pet is much like that of a beloved book — unconditional, steady, and full of quiet light. It is one of her proudest accomplishments to have created a space that people feel is essential to the town that she loved.

Leah's kindness, creativity, and fierce love for her family and friends made a lasting impact — one that will continue to buoy her husband Daniel and their daughters, Lillian (8) and Ada (4), for years to come.

In honor of Leah’s life and values, her family welcomes you to give to one of your favorite local charities as a tribute to her legacy of compassion and community.

Big Paws of the Ozarks, along with the ACLU, Arkansas Abortion Network, First Descents, National Brain Tumor Society, Fayetteville Public Library, and Hope Cancer Resources were some of her favorites.
