Story
Local government impacts so much of our lives. Who’s there to cover it?
LebTown needs your help to ensure that local municipality meetings don’t go uncovered in Lebanon County. Donate today to unlock additional coverage for the community.
Last year, LebTown launched the Civic Impact Reporting Project, a donor-funded effort to radically expand coverage of Lebanon County municipal meetings. In 2022, the first Civic Impact Reporting Project raised more than $10,000 from over 100 donors, a heroic feat of generosity by our community that made possible LebTown reporter Emily Bixler’s coverage of Cornwall Borough, South Londonderry Township, and North Lebanon Township.
Now we’re looking for your help to replenish and increase these reporting resources for 2023. Our goal this year is to raise $15,000 for municipal meeting coverage.
Your tax-deductible contribution goes directly towards additional coverage of local municipal meetings. Help ensure these meetings don’t go uncovered by becoming a donor today. Become a donor and you’ll be able to provide your vote on which municipalities we prioritize for expanded coverage.
We expect that for every $3,000 raised, LebTown will be able to cover an additional municipality for an entire year.
Lebanon County municipalities include:
Why is coverage of local municipal meetings important? Local news outlets are something of a wonder drug. They bring communities together and reduce polarization, increase political engagement by citizens, reduce corruption, and even decrease the cost of government. In most cases though, the watchdog function of journalism isn’t even the most important role we serve! Our primary mission is simply keeping readers up to date on the happenings of their local government. All of these benefits are within reach for Lebanon County, but LebTown will need your help to realize them.
Help us restore local news to Lebanon County by donating to the LebTown Civic Impact Reporting Project today.
The Local Media Foundation/LebTown Civic Impact Reporting Project will cover local municipal meetings to keep Lebanon Countians informed and engaged with their local government. Donations to the Local Media Foundation for this project are tax-deductible to the extent of the law. No goods or services are provided in exchange for contributions. Please consult a tax advisor for details. The program is administered by Local Media Foundation, tax ID #36-4427750, a Section 501(c)(3) charitable trust affiliated with the Local Media Association.
