Delco Gives to Greenlawn 2026: " Maintain The Movement“

Green Lawn Cemetery is a historic resting place for veterans, educators, mothers, fathers, and generations of families who shaped the Chester community. Yet for decades, this sacred ground went without funding, without maintenance, and without oversight. As a result, Green Lawn became an abandoned cemetery under state law, leaving loved ones buried in overgrown grass, toppled headstones, and conditions no family should ever have to witness.

Today, a small group of dedicated volunteers is working tirelessly to restore what was neglected. We cut the grass, clear debris, lift fallen headstones, assist families searching for loved ones, and maintain as much of the grounds as our tools, time, and resources allow. We do this because every person buried at Green Lawn deserves dignity, and every family deserves peace.

But this work requires support.

There is no municipal funding.
There is no ongoing financial assistance.
There is no operating budget.

Everything done at Green Lawn Cemetery is powered by volunteers and what they can afford out of their own pockets. To continue restoring and maintaining the grounds safely and consistently, we are launching this campaign to seek partners who believe in protecting history and honoring those who came before us.

How You Can Help

If you are able to donate equipment, sponsor one of the listed needs, or offer financial support, your contribution directly affects our capacity to restore and maintain this historic cemetery.

Green Lawn Cemetery deserves to be cared for.
Families deserve to visit their loved ones in peace.
And the legacy of those buried there deserves to be protected. Why Support Is Needed

Green Lawn covers more than 8 acres of land. The terrain is uneven, the grass grows quickly, and equipment breaks down often. Without essential tools, basic supplies, and reliable machinery, the cemetery cannot be maintained at the level families deserve.

The following needs are urgent and essential for continued

Reliable gas lawn mowers Reliable Gas Lawn Mowers(approx. $1,500): The current mowers are aging and frequently break down. A durable mower is critical for maintaining large sections of the cemetery.
Weed wackers and equipment maintenance: Overgrowth quickly covers headstones. Consistent trimming is necessary to preserve visibility and respect.
Gas, oil, and supplies: Every volunteer day requires fuel, gloves, bags, blades, rakes, and safety materials.

Why Your Contribution Matters

Supporting Green Lawn Cemetery means helping to restore dignity to a place that was left without care. It means ensuring families can find their loved ones. It means preserving history that would otherwise be lost.

Every donation—equipment, financial contributions, or sponsorship—helps us continue the work of maintaining sacred ground with respect and consistency. What we have learned is simple: volunteers are willing to do the work, but we need the tools to do it well.
