The Lighthouse Bay Charitable Foundation is hosting a Food Drive from November 2 through December 2, 2020. This year all food drive donations will go to the Harry Chapin Food Bank.

Join us to support the Food Bank and do everything in our power to feed the hungry.

Harry Chapin Food Bank is the largest hunger-relief network in Southwest Florida, partnering with more than 150 agencies to feed children, working-poor families, seniors, the unemployed, and other individuals in need.

For every $1 donated, Harry Chapin provides $8 worth of food to people in need. The Food Bank rescues, inspects, transports and distributes donated food and other grocery items to provide direct services to those in need.
But the pandemic has caused a tremendous cash shortfall due to increased need and diminished donations from supermarkets and other retail outlets, restaurants, farms. Their spending on purchased food has increased from an average of $37,500 per month to $1 million per month.
Food distribution has increased by 83%. From March l to August 31 this year, 18. 9 million pounds of food were distributed, compared to 10.3 million pounds during that time in 2019. The number of meals served has also increased, from 8.6 million meals to 15.8 million meals in the same period.

** If you prefer to donate in the traditional way, non-perishable food items can be dropped off in designated bins located in the A & L and Tennis Center lobby from 8 AM – 9 PM any day.
