OUR STORY:

April 13, 2019, marked a tragic day in the history of Palm Coast, FL when Curtis Israel Gray, a promising senior at Flagler Palm Coast High School, was senselessly killed, robbing it's community of a bright and compassionate young leader, Curtis Israel Gray, a student athelete exemplified a spirit of compassion by initiating a peer-to-peer support group aimed at providing counseling and therapy to his peers, thereby demonstrating his commitment to the well-being of his fellow youth.

In the wake of this tragedy, Curtis Gray's mother, Carmen Gray, founded the non-profit organization LLC Rise Above the Violence, dedicated to promoting social and emotional wellness among youth affected by violence through education, support, and community resources.

Due to the tremendous impact of Curtis' death upon his community, The LLC Foundation, has worked tirelessly to implement crisis training, violence intervention strategies, and mental health support programs for youth and families impacted by trauma, thereby striving to create a safer and more resilient community for future generations.

Curtis' story reached national news and in 2022 gained global awareness through ID Discovery, "Murder Tapes" which prompted, Founder, Carmen Gray to develop an Evergreen Tier 1 support learning module on Emotional Resilience accessible for all youth predisposed to violence. Curtis' motto was "be great" inspiring youth from all walks of life to a higher commitment to themselves.
