The auction will close on Friday, August 25th, 9:00 p.m. during our event. Winners can pick up their items that night or on Monday, August 28th between 5:00 and 9:00 p.m. (you will be notified of the pick up location). Auction items can also be shipped at the winner's expense.

The Event

Garrett's Space is excited to announce its fourth annual fundraiser to prevent suicide, Go4GarrettsSpace, will be in-person this year! All proceeds will benefit our wellness programming and the creation of a holistically-focused residential center for young adults struggling with depression and anxiety.

We invite you to an incredible evening featuring Broadway performers, local musicians, poets, and inspirational speakers touched by depression and suicide, as well as classes taught by fitness and yoga instructors. We will also present the inaugural Spirit of Garrett award to Ellie Serras.

Our Story

Garrett’s Space is a non-profit founded by Julie and Scott Halpert after they lost their precious son, Garrett, to suicide at the age of 23. Julie and Scott witnessed first-hand the critical gaps in support in our healthcare system for struggling young adults who need something more than regular visits to their therapist.

Garrett’s Space currently hosts three weekly Wellness Groups for young adults (age 18-28) struggling with depression, anxiety, and suicidality, as a supplement to individual therapy and psychiatric intervention. Participants come together virtually with professional facilitators for peer connection, and mood and movement activities. There is one planned in-person gathering monthly. There is no cost to attend the group. The Wellness Group is an ideal option for individuals who would benefit from facilitated peer support, the opportunity to show up as you are in the moment, and an invitation to try a range of coping skills or activities that might work for them.

Our vision is to build a holistically focused residential retreat that promotes wellness, healing, self-worth, and resilience. The Garrett’s Space residential model is based on an understanding of what young adults need most: connections, improved self-worth, coping strategies, tools to get through challenging times, and hope. To create this model, Garrett’s Space has engaged leading experts who specialize in helping families with the placement of young adults in residential facilities. Their input, along with visits to multiple existing facilities, has informed the development of our non-medical approach. Like our Wellness Groups the residence will be supplemental to therapy and psychiatric care. During three to four week stays, our participants will be surrounded by a community of caring staff and peers, engage in facilitated peer support groups, engage in mood lifting activities including yoga, meditation, cooking, art, gardening, music, journaling, and exercise, and connect with their therapist via telehealth. We have created a model of care to help fill the treatment gap. A model that we believe would have made a difference for our son, Garrett.

We are convinced that the center will benefit many young adults who are having difficulty navigating this increasingly complicated and troubled world.
