We live in a region with abundant local food, yet many community members face challenges regularly accessing healthy fruits, vegetables, and whole foods.

Now, more than ever, as federal nutrition assistance programs are being terminated, we need individual support to provide for our neighbors who are experiencing food insecurity.

Rural Action is teaming up with Community Food Initiatives to respond to this challenge while supporting local farm and food businesses at the same time.

The Local Food for All campaign will provide a weekly share of Ohio-grown fruits, vegetables, and grain products for 20 families throughout the growing season! These shares will include fresh produce from the Chesterhill Produce Auction and a fresh loaf of bread from Village Bakery. The food will be distributed weekly through Community Food Initiatives’ Veggie Van in the communities of Glouster and Coolville.

The strength of this program lies in the collaboration between Rural Action and Community Food Initiatives, mobilizing community dollars efficiently to reach individuals who need it most.
