Meet the Deininger family—13-year-old Logan, little sister Cameron (11), mom Erin, and dad Mark.

If you know Logan, you know that his heart is as big as his love for the game. He’s a year-round athlete who’s dedicated countless hours to the Middletown Eagles baseball team. This year alone, Logan played fall baseball, took up wrestling in the winter for Bayshore, and then made the Bayshore spring baseball team—playing that while continuing with his travel team. Beyond sports, Logan is a true summer soul who loves surfing and diving headfirst into whatever he's passionate about. He’s a loyal teammate, a loving son, and a kid who gives everything he’s got to everything he does.

Last September, what started as what the pediatrician thought was a swollen lymph node due to an underlying infection, therefore nothing to worry about, led Logan’s family down a long road of doctor visits and conflicting opinions. Despite reassurances, Logan’s parents, Erin and Mark, trusted their instincts and kept pushing for answers. As the swelling worsened, they consulted a specialist, and everything changed. After a series of tests and an agonizing wait, the Deininger family received the heartbreaking news that Logan has nasopharyngeal carcinoma—a rare but treatable form of cancer. He’s now beginning a six-month course of chemotherapy and radiation at CHOP, with the strength and spirit of a fighter, just like he shows on the field.

Now, Logan’s family needs our support. His dad, Mark, a dedicated mail carrier, will need to take time off to be there for treatments. His mom, Erin, stepped away from teaching to care for Logan full-time. This is where we can all step in and help carry some of the weight.
