Area residents are concerned that the rock arch rapids (RAR) structure installed on Boy River in November 2025 may be contributing to lower water levels in the Woman Lake Chain. In order to address this concern, the City of Longville has agreed to sponsor an independent technical review of the RAR structure to determine what, if any, effect the RAR is having on lake water levels.

The City shall select and retain an independent professional engineer to perform the review. The City will invite the DNR, Cass County and other participants to cooperate fully in this review by providing records, technical information, access, explanations, and other appropriate assistance to the independent review.

The City has established a separate financial fund whereby interested members of the community can contribute money to pay for the RAR review project. A total of $50,000 was raised prior to approving this project. This campaign is to raise the additional funds that are anticipated to be needed to complete the project. Funds contributed to the RAR project are generally deductible for tax purposes (check with your tax professional for your specific situation).
