Since our founding in 2006, Fenix Theatre Company has been committed to free performances as part of our mission to create dynamic, low-barrier theater that is accessible to all. But free theater isn’t free to produce. As a 501c3 non-profit, we are sustained almost exclusively by the generous donations of our audience.

We believe in the power of theatre to bring people together, to entertain, to educate, and to inspire. We also believe in paying local Maine artists for their time and talent, which is why the Fenix Board of Directors (who all work tirelessly in volunteer capacities) significantly increased artist salaries over the past few seasons. Combined with remaining production costs such as costumes, sets, props, marketing, crew, and technical elements... each Fenix show in the Park costs over $10,000 to bring to you, our dear audience.
