Founded in 1992, CAPE has saved thousands of animals through our dog rescue and adoption programs, community outreach and education, and our sanctuary for farmed animals.

CAPE is dedicated to protecting and advocating for the humane treatment of all animals, promoting a compassionate lifestyle, and addressing the cruelty inflicted on animals for human benefit.

Some of our ongoing programs include:

Adoption and foster programs for dogs who are seniors or who have unique medical needs, requiring extra care.
Assisted Living Program, which provides lifetime foster care for dogs who have little or no chance of being adopted, focusing on seniors and those with special needs.
The CAPE Animal Sanctuary, established in 2012 in Grass Valley, CA, providing a permanent home for animals with special needs.
CAPE's Burro Rescue Program, advocating and providing sanctuary for burros displaced by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management.
Wildfire Animal Assistance Fund, which provides critical support to animals injured or displaced by wildfires and other natural disasters in California, Washington, and Oregon.

CAPE also provides educational opportunities to raise awareness about the challenges animals face and advocates for a world where all animals can live free from suffering.
