Help Light Up a Family’s Life near Asheville, NC

RESTORE Carolina is launching a heartfelt campaign for a resilient family near Asheville whose home was tragically washed away over 6 months ago by the river shown in the photo.

Since the flood, they’ve been living in the shed you see here. Thanks to a generous donation, a camper is now available for them to live in—but they can’t move in without power. To get electricity up and running, we urgently need to install a temporary power pole that meets all building code requirements.

Our goal is to raise $5,000 to cover the cost of the pole, meter, outlets, and other critical components, as well as help provide other essentials they desperately need.

After the devastating floods caused by Hurricane Helene, many families in Western North Carolina were left without homes, relying on campers and generators for survival. Our organization was born out of a deep need—and an even deeper sense of community.

We are a group of local volunteers, neighbors helping neighbors, committed to restoring more than just electricity. We’re here to restore stability, dignity, and faith.

Our mission is simple:

To get families living in campers and temporary houses off generators and reconnected to safe, reliable power.

But it doesn’t stop there. We also help repair homes and provide resources for long-term recovery, ensuring that those hit hardest by the storm aren’t left behind. Our team is made up of boots-on-the-ground volunteers who live right here in the mountains of Western North Carolina. We know this land, we love this land, and we’re here to help it heal—one family at a time.

With every wire we run, every home we help repair, and every hand we hold, we aim to bring light back into the lives of those affected—not just literally, but spiritually too.
