Peter’s Academy is a nonprofit Christian program and therapeutic farm in North Fort Myers, Florida, serving children with autism and related disabilities. Founded by Rebecca Lemieux, a single mother of twins—both on the autism spectrum, including one who is nonverbal—the academy was created to provide the safety, structure, and meaningful, real-life learning that traditional classrooms often cannot offer.

On our peaceful, nearly 3.5-acre working farm, students receive individualized academics alongside hands-on life skills training, animal care, and Christian discipleship. This unique environment helps each child grow in confidence, independence, and faith while feeling safe, understood, and valued.

Our farm is alive with purpose. Each day, students care for miniature horses, goats, pigs, chickens, ducks, bunnies, guinea pigs, and our tortoise. Through this daily responsibility, they build compassion, connection, and practical life skills—but maintaining this environment requires significant resources. Your support ensures our animals remain healthy and our students continue learning through meaningful, hands-on experiences.

As our program grows, so does the need for safe, specialized farm infrastructure. From new stalls for miniature horses to upgraded shelters for goats and pigs, and secure enclosures for smaller animals, these spaces are essential to both animal welfare and student learning. Every improvement directly supports the daily rhythm of care, safety, and education on our campus.

Beyond the farm, our students benefit from safe and engaging recreational spaces. An adaptive playground will provide inclusive opportunities for children of all abilities—including those using wheelchairs and mobility devices—to play, build social skills, and experience joy alongside their peers. This space extends learning beyond the classroom and reinforces a sense of belonging for every child.

What truly sets Peter’s Academy apart is our dedicated team. Our certified educators, Board-Certified Behavior Analysts, and ongoing professional training ensure each child receives expert, individualized support. Many families cannot afford the full cost of this level of care, even with scholarships, and some children would have no appropriate educational option without assistance.
