Every artist needs an inspiring space, the proper tools, & quality materials to create freely. However, supplies can be expensive, often detering makers from pursuing their passions. The COVE Art Center exists to remove the barriers that limit aspiring artists from exercising their creativity. Its a maker’s playground featuring ten dynamic art studios filled with cozy nooks, sturdy workbenches, professional tools, & a treasure trove of art supplies. As our creative community continues to grow, we are constantly working to upgrade our studios. One way we do this is by partnering with professional artists in the NoCo community to maximize the potential of what each studio has to offer & by incorporating their own artwork into the space to inspire those who choose to create there.

We need your help to fund these ongoing projects. Last year, we were able to completely overhaul our Mixed Media Studio, & it has quickly become one of our most popular spaces! With the financial help of our generous donors, we fully stocked the space with tools & materials for producing every kind of fiber art & paper craft you can imagine. We were also able to hire cut-paper artist Amanda Wicker to create a beautiful art installation that continues to inspire our Afterschool students & adult artists.

When you contribute to Make Space, your gift goes directly toward furnishing & outfitting our art studios. The Novelty Collective is dedicated to making the arts accessible to the community. Providing a safe space to create has been transformative for so many young people & adults alike over the nine years we have been operating in Pittsburgh.

Studio Stories

As we continue to make space together, it is our pleasure to share the stories of our progress & successes with you! Executive Director Brittany Hartman-King is working on a year-long project to take you on an inspirational tour of our studios, showing the process of their transformation & the way they are used today. The Novelty Collective ("NoCo") is a Christian 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a vision to "restore creation to its Creator." We provide free studio space, art supplies, & programming for creatives at our location just outside of downtown Pittsburgh, PA. Our Afterschool program serves dozens of local middle school & high school students, while our adult artist network extends all the way to the West Coast.

The Novelty Collective is a community for everyone, regardless of age, ability, belief (creed), gender, ethnicity, background, socioeconomic status, or identity.
