Story

Makoko is the largest floating slum in the world, where people live on water and there are currently 20 empty classrooms in Makoko. These classes are split between 3 schools which are all in the same compound: Makoko Anglican Primary School (5 empty classrooms), Adekunle Anglican Primary School (11 empty classrooms) and Aiyetoro African Church Primary School (4 empty classrooms).

Our 3 year plan is to have all classes renovated and occupied with 20 teachers and 500 students. The class renovations will include Burglary for security, Windows, 2 Iron Doors, Screeding, Painting, Flooring(Tiles), A Bricklayer, Chairs, Tables and Whiteboard & Markers for every class.

Welcome to the Makoko Makeover, it’s time for a TRANSFORMATION!

  • Legend (Budget)

    1 class renovated = $2500, Admin - 10%, Contingency - 20%

    1 teacher salary & training for 2 years ($1250 a teacher per year) = $2500

We will be breaking down the project into 5 Milestones:

    Milestone 1 - $10k = 2 classes renovated, 2 teachers salary & training for 2 years and admin
    Milestone 2 - $20k = 3 classes renovated, 3 teachers salary & training, admin and contingency

    Milestone 3 - $30k = 4 classes renovated, 4 teachers salary & training, admin and contingency
    Milestone 4 - $40k = 5 classes renovated, 5 teachers salary & training, admin and contingency

    Milestone 5 - $50k = 7 classes renovated, 7 teachers salary & training, admin and contingency

By 2025, with your generosity and support we will have 20 classrooms renovated, 20 teachers employed and 500 students back in school.

Charles Darwin said, "A man who dares to waste one hour of time has not discovered the value of life". We dare to say that any nation, community or organization that does not invest and utilize the potential of its people does not value its future. One of the major things killing Nigeria and affecting the Nigerian education sector is WASTE. We have physical infrastructure with no human capital to manage or utilize the infrastructure. Simply put, in the case of Makoko, we have empty classrooms with no teachers.

We want to reduce the waste of empty classrooms in schools all across Nigeria, starting with Makoko. We will do this by filling every classroom with qualified teachers.

Thank you for your concern and kind donations. We're excited to transform Makoko alongside you, God bless you!
