Enjoy the libations and good food, dancing with a DJ, fortune telling, and a silent auction while helping protect vulnerable children in rural Ghana. Bring the kids to dance the night away and/or let them play with a dedicated kid center onsite - movie room, crafts and more! Together, we can create a brighter future for children far less fortunate than our own.

Mako Children's Fund

Mako Children's Fund is a lifeline for children in rural Ghana and a beacon of progress in the community. Mako brings support and opportunity to at-risk children who live in the poorest region of Ghana. Children in the Volta Region endure the highest rates of child-trafficking and child-labour in the country. Our intervention and empowerment programs make it possible for children to nourish their bodies, minds and hearts. We've seen historical and transformative progress thanks to donors like you. About Mako Children's Fund:

🌳 10 years ago, a few Americans fatefully met a Ghanaian woman teaching children ABC's under a tree. The children were full of hope, and the circumstances were hopeless. Our mission became clear, and the rest is history.

💛 Mako Children's Fund is a non-profit that advances the lives of at-risk children in rural Ghana. Our probono US Board and locally-led programs have educated hundreds of children while addressing the most common threats to child survival, development and happiness. Together with our donors, we make life-changing progress every single day.

➡️ For every child we serve, there's 10 more who need our help. With a little support and opportunity, Mako children are breaking generational poverty cycles; showing that anyone in a rural, under-served and overlooked area can thrive with the right resources in-place. After a decade of work, we've seen historical progress. It's time to meet our next moment and empower this deserving, capable community at-scale.

Our Future

We're building a community center so that the programs and resources we've powered to-date can reach the many children still suffering. Mako has spent a decade creating sustainable, scalable programs. Our programs focus on Education, Family & Community Integration, Health & Wellness, Love & Play. By closing these critical community and children gaps in locally-rooted ways, we can do wonders.

"Mako" is a Ghanaian term for pepper - as their story goes; one must not forget the ripe pepper trying to survive on the vine; for it needs nourishment to grow. Thank you for advancing the lives of these children - for if not us, then who?
