💛 THE HEART BEHIND IT
Mako Children’s Fund supports vulnerable children in Hohoe and surrounding villages in rural Ghana, West Africa. Through food, clean water, education, and trusted guidance, we help children find safety today and build possibilities for their future.

Our four pillars guide everything we do: Nourish. Learn. Gather. Grow.

This year, we’ve been expanding our center’s capacity to welcome more children and engage young community leaders. Then, last month, devastating floods turned that planned expansion into an emergency response.

The floods displaced 13,000 people, roughly half of them children. A damaged water pipe left half the town without water. Our Ghanaian staff became frontline responders, carrying water on their heads for miles, making dozens of trips each day, and working late into the night to keep children safe, fed, and supported.

With families losing homes and teacher strikes closing schools, children have fewer places to turn. For some, there is no home to return to. For others, home isn’t safe. Our center once welcomed 40–60 children a day.

Now, hundreds are seeking support, with children waiting at our gate. For many, Mako is the only help within reach.

This fundraiser will help provide the food, clean water, desks, supplies, and staff needed to welcome them. The need we were preparing for has become the emergency we are living.

THANK YOU to WYCO for opening up your space to make life-changing impact in rural Ghana. Because of you, we can Gather as a community and Grow possibilities for children and families in rural Ghana.
