This year, the J.L. Mann Student Council is proud to announce that our Spirit Week fundraising efforts will benefit an incredible local organization—The Dream Center. This non-profit is doing life-changing work right here in the Upstate by helping individuals and families transition out of crisis and into stability through compassion, community support, and long-term solutions.

The heart of the Dream Center is its Opportunity Village, a program that provides temporary housing and wraparound support to women and children facing homelessness, abuse, or addiction. These are people in our community who need more than a handout—they need a hand up. And that’s exactly what the Dream Center provides, by helping them develop the tools they need for long-term self-sufficiency.

Our goal this year is to make a real, lasting impact by raising enough money to support programs like:

Nutritional support: providing education on preparing healthy meals and cooking classes. Hiring a nutritionist to prepare healthy meals for the women and children.
Purchasing a mobile salad bar to provide healthy options for lunch and dinner for the residents.
Building and maintaining 10 vegetable garden beds and a chicken coop for fresh eggs.
Health screenings and Preventative care: partnering with local healthcare providers to offer regular screenings.
Wellness checks and dental care for residents.
Assistance with purchasing medication for residents who have no access to medication.
Bicycles for all incoming children.
Fitness trackers to help residents track and achieve their goals.

By donating to Spirit Week this year, you are helping give women and children in the Upstate a fresh start—and the hope they need to keep moving forward.

Through our partnership with the Dream Center, we’re not just raising money—we’re changing lives. We believe this nonprofit is doing the kind of powerful, meaningful work that our entire community can stand behind.
