Anthony’s recovery has already defied expectations

Anthony is a graduate of Thurston High School (2011) and the University of Michigan (2017). After college, he moved to Colorado and worked as a Case Manager, serving others with compassion. That same year, he became a father to a beautiful daughter, now 8 years old, who lives in Colorado.

In August 2022, Anthony suffered a sudden cardiac arrest that resulted in a traumatic brain injury. He survived — and continues to make meaningful progress. His heart is stronger, he can sit upright in his wheelchair longer, track with his eyes, enjoy music, basketball, and movies, and follow simple commands.

One of the biggest barriers to Anthony’s continued recovery is transportation.

Shared medical transport often means long rides, multiple drop-offs, and extended wait times. Because Anthony experiences spasticity in his lower extremities, these trips can be painful — and they’ve contributed to missed appointments and limited access to specialists. A wheelchair-accessible van would change everything: safer, more comfortable travel and the ability to get to care on time, consistently — for Anthony and for time with his daughter.
