A Market Rooted in Community

The Newtown Farmers Market is a program of Newtown Nation, a 501(c)(3) community-based nonprofit and grassroots leadership organization serving the historic Newtown community of Sarasota.

Newtown Nation was created to support equity, opportunity, and community-led change. Since 2015, the organization has worked to improve food access, housing stability, youth programming, cultural preservation, and neighborhood wellness through resident-led initiatives.

The Farmers Market was established in response to Newtown’s food desert designation and the need for more accessible, affordable, and healthy food options in the community. Today, the market continues that mission by offering fresh produce, local goods, and a welcoming space for small businesses, residents, and families to connect.

The market also creates opportunities for local vendors and emerging entrepreneurs to showcase their products at an affordable cost. Through partnerships, community programs, and youth engagement efforts, Newtown Nation continues to use the market as a place for wellness, economic opportunity, and neighborhood pride.

More than just a place to shop, the Newtown Farmers Market is a community gathering space built to nourish, connect, and uplift Newtown.
