Lucia Newell has sung in jazz clubs, concert halls, studios and festivals around the world. She has received special recognition from the Minnesota Jazz Awards, can be heard on several CDs, including the critically acclaimed releases Enter You, Enter Love and Steeped in Strayhorn. A native of Minneapolis, Lucia is also a composer, lyricist and teacher.

DAVID HAZELTINE

"David Hazeltine is one of a handful of contemporary pianists who has mastered all of the major musical skills, from improvisation and technique, to accompaniment, arranging, and composition. Even more impressive, David is the rare artist able to innovate in each category. Thus it’s no surprise that he’s the most recorded contemporary jazz pianist of our time, having recorded thirty five cd’s as a leader and hundreds more as a sideman, on various major labels globally. A Milwaukee native, David was playing the clubs as a preteen, and before he’d even come of age he was already grabbing the attention and respect of jazz legends like Sonny Stitt, and Chet Baker."

LUCIA NEWELL

Lucia Newell has sung in jazz clubs, concert halls and festivals around the world and at home in the Twin Cities. She spent years singing background vocals on major label recordings, and can be heard on local and national TV and radio jingles, and on a variety of children’s and teaching recordings. Lucia has received special recognition from the Minnesota Jazz Awards and released the critically acclaimed CD Enter You, Enter Love with guitarist Joan Griffith, now in its third issue, and is featured on Laura Caviani’s jazzy Christmas CD, Angels We Haven’t Heard, the recording with Soul Café, The Poetry of Jazz, Pablo Neruda meets Rodgers & Hart and on the release with Alma Brasileira, Circle of the Dance. Lucia’s Steeped in Strayhorn, is a collaboration with the highly charged sextet, Pete Whitman’s Departure Point, featuring the music of the great Billy Strayhorn. She is currently at work on a new CD of her own compositions and songs written with Twin Cities musicians.

BILLY PETERSON

Billy Peterson is one of the most celebrated bass players in the world. His uncompromising talents as a performer, composer, arranger and producer have brought him widespread recognition. This world-renowned bassist is often compared to a chameleon because he can fill so many positions and because he is at home in rock, pop, R&B, soul, jazz, folk or country.

Peterson's contributions to the music scene are inestimable and his enthusiasm for the bass is stunning. He is permanently in-demand as a bassist and known for his work with Carlos Santana, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Prince, Les Paul and Steve Miller, among many other internationally acclaimed artists.

GLENN SWANSON

Glenn's studies of music, science, technology and Buddhism combine in an effortless mastery of time and tone. At an early age, Glenn became one of the Twin Cities’ leading drummers in both live venues and the studio. He was a staff drummer at Creation Audio and worked with Minneapolis’ leading recording icons, including Herb Pilhoffer and Chris Moon. He co-authored, “Behind the Shades” with Sheila Raye Charles (daughter of Ray Charles) and produced and toured Japan with Sheila.

In 2010 he worked with Pippi Ardennia and co-founded PipJazz Foundation, a program that mentors talented jazz youth. Glenn is currently the Artistic Director for OACC.
