In 1925, a group of determined Martinsburg women came together with a shared vision and raised $8,000 in just six months to establish a public library for their community. One hundred years later, the Martinsburg Public Library is still serving neighbors of all ages, and the Friends of the Martinsburg Public Library are proud to carry that legacy forward.

On Saturday, September 19th, 2026, we will celebrate this extraordinary milestone with the Centennial Celebration & Fundraiser — a Roaring Twenties Speakeasy evening inside the library itself, complete with live jazz, Charleston dance lessons, a piano bar, back-room gaming, and heavy hors d'oeuvres by Brix 27.
