From Mentee to MD

Medicine has always promised to be a pathway to healing, dignity, and possibility — but for many students of color, that path is hidden, broken, or guarded by gates they were never shown how to unlock.

Doctors of Color Consortium (D.O.C.C.) was created by a Black woman surgeon-in-training who knew the story too well — of walking into rooms where no one looked like her, of being mistaken for anything but the doctor, and of wondering if she belonged in the first place.

Now, we’re building what we never had.

Mentee to MD is our first campaign to raise the funds that will launch mentorship toolkits, school visits, and culturally grounded workshops — all led by physicians of color, for students of color.

This campaign is about more than money — it’s about making mentorship visible, belonging tangible, and careers in medicine accessible.

The Purpose

To raise $5,000 to:

Launch school-based outreach in underserved communities
Provide mentorship kits (with stethoscopes, anatomy tools, and guides)
Support speaker stipends, training workshops, and virtual events
Build a sustainable mentorship pipeline for years to come
