Merciful Hands Doctors is a donations-based medical clinic serving the people of Gaza. It was established in September 2024 by Dr. Mohammed Lamdi, a medical school graduate who had returned to Gaza from Egypt for his wedding in October 2023. Trapped inside Gaza due to the ongoing violent siege and the closing of Gaza's borders, he volunteered at the nearby hospital at night, and found himself treating neighbors who came to his home seeking medical treatment during the day.

According to the UN, half of Gaza’s 36 hospitals remain partially functional. Medication and doctor visits are out of reach monetarily for most people in Gaza as the closed borders have created extreme scarcity and the number of injuries and chronically sick grow, putting a nearly insurmountable strain on the healthcare infrastructure.

In 2024 Dr. Mohammed began to purchase bulk orders of medications with his own money, in order to treat the many people coming to his home, and eventually Merciful Hands Doctors was born. The clinic provides medication and primary care medical treatment for free to those who need it, funded through your donations. From 2024–2025 Merciful Hands Doctors operated out of a central location with regular hours, and treated up to 30 people each day. In 2025 the clinic's original location became too dangerous, and Dr. Mohammed and his wife were forced to move to a different area. Currently, Merciful Hands Doctors operates locally, providing treatment from Dr. Mohammed's home once again; and also organizes pop-up medical clinics—in January 2026, MHD treated over 600 students and teachers during a 2-day medical clinic at a nearby school. Another medical clinic for students is currently being planned, as well as the reestablishment of a physical location for the clinic.

People in Gaza do not have enough access to medical care—finding basic needs such as antibiotics, insulin, prenatal vitamins, blood pressure medicine, and more, has become difficult at best, and often impossible. With every donation, MHD can purchase and distribute more medications, and provide more medical treatment to those who need it most.

UPDATE JANUARY 2026
In January, your support provided free healthcare screenings, treatment and awareness campaigns for over 600 students and teachers.

Children in Gaza are still facing a healthcare crisis. Gaza is still impacted with contaminated water sources, damaged sewage systems, severe overcrowding, damaged health facilities, and insufficient vaccination coverage. Intervention is needed to control the spread of diseases.

Merciful Hands Doctors clinic was invited by a local school, with over 1400 students, to help address the spread of chickenpox and other infectious diseases. Over the course of 2 days, a team of 2 doctors and 2 nurses were able to give medical screenings to almost 600 children and conduct awareness and education campaigns for the teachers on the prevalence and symptoms of various infectious diseases. Sick children were treated on-site and given necessary medications—something many families cannot find or afford at this time—free of cost. The cost of this campaign was approximately $700 each day. MHD has been invited to return, in order to provide medical care for the remaining 800 students.
