Straight from the Horse's Mouth -
Read on for the latest news from Ruby
Judith,
Warm greetings from all of us here at Ruby's! It may yet be the end of February, but our Texas weather is galloping ahead to warmth, sunshine 🔆, and longer days. That suits us just fine as we welcome participants in our 2024 youth and veterans' Wellness with Horses program.
Already we are seeing the tremendous impact of meaningful connections between horses and people who have BOTH experienced the challenges of trauma. In a peaceful setting, with gentle support and learning, participants are making meaningful strides towards improved wellness. Together, horse and human create safety, trust, and understanding. I wish you all could see what I see every day.
These life-changing experiences are made possible by the generous support of our community, including individuals, businesses, and grant organizations. This year we are thrilled to offer participation free of charge to a number of veterans and youth due to the support of our funding partners.
The Tomball Regional Health Foundation has been instrumental in expanding our services with their generous support. With a shared mission to improve the mental health and wellbeing of our community members, our partnership is truly making a difference -- both youth and veterans affected by trauma are benefitting directly from the combined efforts of Ruby's and TRHF.
In addition, we are honored to receive our first contribution from the Montgomery County Community Foundation. With a commitment to improving the lives of Montgomery County residents, MCCF is directly supporting several youth participants at Ruby's Home for Good, bringing improved wellbeing to young people who have experienced family disruption, trauma, grief and loss.
Trauma can have longlasting and devastating impacts on a person's wellbeing; but it doesn't have to. Here at Ruby's, we know what science backs up --
Spending time with horses with a clear intention to create safe spaces and safe relationships can bring significant improvements to both the physical and mental health of participants AND horses.
We know that so many more people can benefit from this unique approach that we offer. But we need your help to make it happen. Through the month of April we will be highlighting the countless benefits of positive horse-human interactions while also celebrating a very special occasion:
Ruby's 15th birthday!
We hope you'll join us in April by sharing your own story, spreading our mission, and making your most generous contribution. Your donations make a real difference and are critical to our continued impact.
We will be updating more on the campaign as we approach April. In the meantime, here's the link:

And of course - it's hardly a birthday without cake! We will be having an informal gathering at Deacon Baldy's on April 13th and would love to see you there. Details are included through the Galloping for Good link above.
Changing lives truly takes a community and we are grateful to be a part of one that values the wellbeing not only of people but also horses. Together, we are setting the bar for mutually beneficial relationships between people and horses - relationships that have deep and meaningful impact. If our mission rings true for you and is something you want to be a part of, we invite you to join our herd. We are currently seeking volunteers and potential board members who are interested in helping our mission grow through administrative support, PR, fundraising, marketing, and more. Even a few hours a month can make a difference!
