The Methane Mitigation Council (MMC) is a new public-interest platform for methane mitigation solutions.

Our vision is a world in which methane solutions are fully deployed and we've bent the curve on rising global temperatures.

Our approach is to bring methane solution providers together from across sectors to make it easier for public, private and civil society organizations to understand what's available — and work through what’s blocking deployment.

How the MMC speeds up deployment

An independent platform for methane mitigation solutions will make it possible to do what individual organizations cannot: identify the common barriers holding the sector back, exchange practical knowledge and coordinate collective action - while increasing public awareness.

Gather providers from across a fragmented ecosystem to form a complete picture: By convening methane solution providers of all types across multiple sectors, the MMC will be able to identify shared barriers to deployment that are otherwise difficult to discern, whether financial, regulatory, market-based, or nuanced factors like commonly-held beliefs.

Community engagement for problem-solving: Basic infrastructure to meet and exchange knowledge also creates a unique opportunity for more ambitious work, such as aggregation of sensitive data (such as cost data), formation of multi-sector working groups, and informing policy from the ground up.

Higher public profile for broader support: Establishing a shared identity for the global community of methane mitigation solution providers will help “put methane solutions on the map.” This will make it easier to attract new funders and industrial end-users, inform policymakers, engage citizens and put pressure on deployment.

Methane Mitigation Council Founder Monica Miller Prabhu invites friends, family, neighbors, methane-focused organizations and concerned citizens to help build the Methane Mitigation Council. Monica has spent more than a year deep in conversation with dozens of organizations and hundreds of practitioners across the methane mitigation ecosystem, recognizing that the highly fragmented landscape is part of what's keeping us from cutting methane emissions more quickly.

Prior to founding the MMC Monica was on the founding team of a company developing methane mitigation technology for hard-to-abate sources of methane emissions. Before methane, she had a career in strategic communications and in another lifetime she was a public high school English teacher.
