One year ago, the Foundation for Educational Excellence hosted its 2nd annual GloBingo event at The Metamora Fields where nearly 300 people gathered for a fun night of bingo, bidding on silent auction items and raising money for our wonderful school. With community support from local businesses and the GloBingo event, the Foundation profited $40,000!

The next week COVID-19 hit. The foundation was so fortunate that we were able to have our event after months of planning.

As with almost everything, the Foundation is re-thinking our fundraising efforts for 2021 with safety and social distancing in mind. This year, we will be hosting a Direct Donation Campaign - no selling, no baking, no hassle fundraiser! Simply put, we just need you to write a tax-deductible check to the Foundation whether that is $5, $25, $100 or $500. All money will go directly back into the classrooms for the educational benefit of the students of MGS.

In the past, the Foundation has purchased Chromebooks, webcams, subscription and licensing for educational software, science labs, math labs and fine art materials. Again, we will continue to focus on the educational needs of the students at MGS. We are currently in the process of meeting with the administration and teachers to see what the needs of the school will be as we start planning for the next school year.

The Foundation has set a goal of $25,000 for 2021 and we feel confident that with the generosity of the MGS families and community that we can hit this. We have set smaller goals to allow our students to have a little fun:

$10,000 - Mr. Damery will get a pie in the face
$20,000 - Mr. Damery and Mr. Dotterer will get a pie in the face
$25,000 - Ice cream party for the whole school

Many of our families work for companies in the area that will match any donation that is made to a non-profit. If you decide to make a donation, we would ask that you also talk to your employer to see if they would be willing to match your generosity. Even though we can’t be together this year, the needs of our school have not just gone away. We remain committed to funding the grant requests made by the teachers each year in order to continue providing the best educational opportunities for our young students. We can all agree, especially after the last year, that our teachers are AMAZING!
