This summer, Nancy Wentink will set out on an extraordinary cross-country journey. Together with her group, they will cover vast distances by bike, sharing both the physical challenge and the unforgettable experience of traveling across the country at a human pace.

Her route starts in Anacortes, Washington, tracing a path through the vast landscapes of rural America to Fargo, North Dakota and includes the Going to the Sun Road in Glacier National Park, the Cascades and Rocky Mountains. Next summer, she will continue from Fargo to Bar Harbor, Maine, completing a coast-to-coast crossing that spans more than geography. Each segment of country she crosses will carry her through open plains, mountain passes, farm towns, and places where kindness still arrives in the form of a wave from a stranger or a conversation on a quiet main street.

This summer alone, Nancy will pedal 2,014 miles. Every mile represents early mornings, aching muscles, long stretches of road, and the kind of determination that comes from committing to something far bigger than a typical vacation.

She is riding for dogs who don’t have the luxury of time.

Nancy hopes to raise at least $2,500 during this first leg, with 100% of proceeds benefiting Albert's Dog Lounge Rescue.

Albert’s Dog Lounge Rescue is a foster-based organization devoted to senior, special needs, and hospice dogs — the ones most often overlooked, the ones who wait the longest, and the ones who face the highest risk of never making it out of a shelter alive. Since 2017, this rescue has served as a bridge between abandonment and belonging, giving vulnerable dogs not just safety, but dignity, comfort, and love in their final chapters or second chances.

Nancy’s journey is a powerful reminder that meaningful change rarely happens in a single grand gesture. It happens in steady effort. In showing up day after day. In choosing to move forward even when the road feels endless.
