The Stone Foundation is a nonprofit organization founded by three local women—Alyssa Suess, Amanda Erickson, and Lindy Kirby—to provide outreach programs that promote mental and physical health within our community. Our mission is to support individuals by fostering education, awareness, and advocacy for youth and adults as they navigate important milestones in life.

As the Board of Directors of The Stone Foundation, our careers as physical therapists and a psychologist have been dedicated to serving others through healthcare. We are committed to ensuring that all individuals have access to opportunities that help them reach their full potential, regardless of their abilities, cultural background, or socio-economic status.

Throughout our careers, we have seen firsthand the challenges individuals and families face when adaptive equipment, assistive technology, and accessibility resources are not available or affordable. These resources are often essential for participation, learning, independence, and inclusion, yet they frequently fall outside of traditional funding sources and budgets.

We created Milestone Miles to help break down these financial barriers and provide resources that make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families throughout our community.

For Milestone Miles 2026: Battle of the Schools, we are expanding that mission to support local schools. Through our work with children and families, we have seen the tremendous impact that adaptive and inclusive equipment can have on a student's ability to learn, participate, and succeed alongside their peers. Unfortunately, many of these items are not covered through standard school funding and often go unfunded despite their importance.

Funds raised through Milestone Miles 2026 will help provide adaptive and inclusive equipment for classrooms, physical education programs, playgrounds, sensory spaces, and special education programs throughout Williston. By investing in these resources, we can help create learning environments where students of all abilities have the opportunity to learn, play, and thrive.
