Imagine a senior reaching out to brush Buttercup’s mane. Perhaps it brings back a memory of a childhood horse, starts a conversation with a neighbor, or simply offers a peaceful moment in a difficult day.

For someone who can no longer come to the farm, we want to bring that connection to them.

Unbridled Paths is preparing to launch Minis on the Move, an outreach program that will bring our miniature horse, Buttercup, on supervised visits to assisted living facilities, memory care communities, hospice settings, and other senior care environments.

Our vision is simple: to help seniors feel seen, valued, and loved through gentle interactions with a very special little horse.

Small Moments That Matter

For seniors experiencing loneliness, memory loss, illness, grief, or limited mobility, opportunities for connection can become harder to find. Many can no longer travel to a farm or enjoy the presence of animals as they once did.

A visit from Buttercup offers something to look forward to—a chance to touch, remember, talk, laugh, or enjoy a quiet moment of companionship.

At Unbridled Paths, we see how relationships between horses and people can create moments of joy and connection. Minis on the Move will help us share that experience beyond our farm, bringing it directly to seniors in their own communities.

Thoughtful Visits, Meaningful Connections

Each visit will be coordinated with facility staff, guided by the needs and preferences of participating residents, and supported by trained members of the Unbridled Paths team.

Whether Buttercup joins a gathering in a common area or offers a quiet individual visit where appropriate, our goal is to create an experience that is safe, calm, respectful, and filled with dignity.

Behind every gentle encounter will be thoughtful planning, a dedicated team, and a well-cared-for horse.

Our goal is to raise $15,000 to launch Minis on the Move and prepare for safe, well-organized visits.

A suitable trailer and reliable transportation to bring Buttercup to senior communities.
Insurance, safety preparation, and essential equipment for supervised visits.
Horse care, grooming, and program supplies to keep Buttercup comfortable and ready.
Staff and handler time, facility coordination, and outreach to make each visit possible.

Our Community Has Already Begun

Alexandra’s Holiday Photos with a Purpose initiative has raised $505 toward the launch, and proceeds from our Fourth Annual Fall Festival on November 1 will also support Minis on the Move.
