A Concert Reading of a new musical based on the life of Mirabai. This tale comes alive through original songs and the beautiful classical poetry of India’s beloved mystic poet.

Mirabai, the Barefoot Princess tells the story of a young girl who is in love with the playful flute-playing god Krishna, but is forced to marry a prince. An epic drama with elements of romance, melodrama, fantasy and farce, this modern rendering of the Mirabai story highlights feminist themes and features a variety of musical styles from Indian classical and folk, to bhangra, hip hop and the blues.

A cast of eight wonderful professional actors and singers will be accompanied by three talented multi-instrumentalists on keyboard, cello, accordion, tabla, kanjira, sitar and frame drum.
