My name is Regina, and I am the founder of Miriam's Dance Academy — a faith-based performing arts studio right here in Greensboro, NC, serving students ages 3–22. We are a program under H.U.U.R.T. Community Development Corporation, a local non profit serving tangible resources to the less fortunate. We focus on not only teaching children dance but building character development, self esteem, self worth and more. This is much needed in today's world especially with our young people.

When I started Miriam's Dance Academy, I had one goal: make sure that no child in our community ever had to choose between their passion and their family's budget. Dance has the power to build confidence, discipline, and character — and every child deserves access to it, regardless of what their parents can afford. That belief is still the heartbeat of everything we do today.

Our studio runs largely on the dedication of volunteers, community support, and outside funding — because we refuse to price our families out. We keep our tuition intentionally affordable so that a child from any neighborhood in the Triad can walk through our doors and belong here.

But right now, the space our students dance in doesn't match the greatness inside of them — and that's what we're determined to change. We have been blessed to receive a permanent dance home of 1400 square feet. This came as a surprise to us and now we have to act fast to build it out prior to our upcoming new season.

THE ROOTED & RISING CAMPAIGN — $15,000 GOAL | JULY 20, 2026

We are raising $15,000 this July to complete a critical phase of our studio renovation. Here is exactly where every dollar goes:

• $10,000 — Professional Subflooring & Marley Dance Floor (1,000 sq ft)

This is about protecting our kids. Marley flooring installed over proper subflooring is the industry standard for dance studios — it reduces the risk of injury by providing the right amount of grip, shock absorption, and support that growing bodies need. Whether a student is landing an acrobatic trick, executing a ballet turn, or hitting a hip hop routine, they deserve a surface built for what they do. Across 1,000 square feet, this investment covers our entire studio floor and keeps every single dancer safer every single day.

• $5,000 — Décor, Furniture & Finishing Touches

We are completing the transformation with fresh paint, functional furniture, and the finishing details that turn four walls into a place students are proud to call theirs. When a child walks into a space that is clean, beautiful, and intentional, it tells them something — that they matter, that their dreams matter, and that their community showed up for them. That message is priceless.
